Beating the Bounds
Thursday 9 May 3.30 pm
This ancient custom, still practised in places ranging from rural Dorset to central London, involves hitting the parish boundaries with sticks, a useful aide-memoire before the invention of Google Maps. Our own celebration involves a rough and ready procession around some of the College boundaries, to check that St John's hasn't encroached on our territory. Be prepared for singing, silliness and incense. Sticks provided.
