Charles Fox Maitland
1796-1818.
The Hon. Charles Fox Maitland was the fourth son of John, the 8th Earl of Lauderdale, born at Dunbar in East Lothian. He was admitted to Trinity as a nobleman in 1812, after schooling in Richmond, Yorkshire, and took his MA in 1815.

In memory of Charles Fox Maitland, M.A., youngest son of the most noble Earl of Lauderdale. He was educated in this home of good learning and died here on 18th December 1818 at the age of twenty-four. His grieving father erected this memorial to the best and dearest of sons, a youth of great promise and pleasant wit. |
